Role Description
The Head of Clinical Coding Services leads the development, implementation and review of clinical coding strategy to promote standards of excellence and compliance with best practice guidelines. This involves: leading the clinical coding function within the organisation; developing, implementing and reviewing the clinical coding strategy for the organisation; providing board level reports on coding depth, accuracy and compliance; promoting good practice in clinical coding to all those who have an influence on its effectiveness; managing the programme of clinical coding audits; monitoring the use of financial resources for the clinical coding function; and managing clinical coding staff and their development.
